Position Summary:
Responsible for leading the business in establishing
appropriate public policy positions and strategies on an international
level, and coordinating the company's efforts to appropriately affect
laws and rulemaking and market access issues. As such, the position
monitors legislative and regulatory developments and evaluates emerging
public policy trends that impact the company, its facilities, products
and services. The position must maintain effective working
relationships to effectuate positive business outcomes. This includes
building and maintaining a network of external contacts within the U.S.
and governments of select countries; with international business and
professional organizations that represent the consumer products sector;
with in-country Clorox managers; and others multi-national business
stakeholders. Responsible for developing and implementing plans for
successfully achieving specific government affairs results which advance
business objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience
performing government affairs work with a strong understanding of public
policy processes at the international level with an emphasis on Asia
and/or Latin America
- A solid understanding of the international cultural, philosophical and
operating differences in select countries
- Ability to develop effective internal and external relationships
- Strong communication and decision-making skills
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
- Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities
with little supervision
- Broad knowledge of international business practices, trade and
commercial policies
- Able to travel on short notice
- Some supervision desirable
- Bachelor's Degree in government relations, international relations,
economics, public affairs or related.
- May also require MBA or other certification
